Will my phone work with a USA eSIM or SIM card?
Most recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones and Google Pixel phones work with our USA eSIMs. Older phones may need a physical USA SIM card instead.
To check eSIM support, open your phone settings and look for “Add eSIM” or “Add Mobile Plan”. You can also dial *#06#. If your phone shows an EID number, it usually supports eSIM.
When should I activate my USA eSIM or SIM?
You do not need to choose an activation date when placing your order. After purchase, you will submit your activation details separately.
You can activate before you leave Australia, but your USA mobile plan only starts when you arrive in the USA and connect to the network.
How much data do I get with a USA travel SIM?
We have plans that include unlimited 5G/4G data for travel in America or plans with fixed data amounts (12GB, 30GB, 50GB).
Do I get a real USA mobile number?
Yes. Your USA eSIM or physical SIM includes a real USA mobile number for calls and texts.
This is useful for Uber, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, online forms, local calls and receiving SMS messages while travelling in the USA.
Can I use hotspot in the USA?
Yes. Hotspot and tethering work on supported phones and with select plans. You'll find details about hotspot in each plan description.
You can share your USA mobile data with a laptop, tablet or travel companion, subject to your phone settings and network conditions.
Does the USA SIM work in Hawaii and Alaska?
Our T-Mobile USA plans work in Hawaii, but not in Alaska.
Our AT&T USA plans work in both Hawaii and Alaska. If your trip includes Alaska, choose an AT&T USA eSIM or SIM plan.
How long does physical SIM shipping take in Australia?
Physical USA SIM cards are shipped from Sydney.
Most Australian orders arrive in 4 to 7 business days. If you are leaving soon, a USA eSIM is usually the faster option because it is delivered by email.
What happens if I run out of data in the USA?
On our unlimited USA plans, you do not run out of data. On our plans with fixed data amounts, once you use up all the data you can't add more, so make sure to buy the right plan for your use.
Can I keep my Australian number active while using a USA eSIM?
Yes. Many travellers keep their Australian number active for iMessage, WhatsApp, banking apps and their usual contacts.
If your phone supports dual eSIM/SIM, you can use your Australian SIM and USA eSIM at the same time. Your USA eSIM handles local data, calls and texts while you travel.
Is eSIM better than a physical SIM for USA travel?
A USA eSIM is usually better if your phone supports it. It is delivered by email, can be set up before you leave Australia, and removes the need to swap SIM cards.
A physical USA SIM card is still a good option if your phone does not support eSIM or you prefer a traditional SIM card.
